Minneapolis – KJ International, Ltd. is proud to announce its ISO 9001 certification for providing written translation services to medical device companies for their international distribution requirements, including providing the necessary formatting for various graphic programs, web-based software or code-based software.

KJI achieved certification following months of rigorous work to clarify and document its processes, with applications in the fields of manufacturing, law and other industries, in addition to the highly regulated medical device industry. “Process is actually what sets us apart from other translation firms,” notes Kristen Giovanis, managing director and co-founder of KJI. “We work through a flexible standard of steps that allow us to meet the needs of individual clients while ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to ever-changing global regulations.”

KJI has become so noted for its systems that Giovanis has been asked to speak to groups in the medical device industry on how development of and adherence to standard operating procedures can improve translations while controlling costs. “With the recent changes in CE regulations, companies will now have to translate documents into up to 19 languages, just to be in compliance,” Giovanis explains. “At up to $6 per word for translations… well, you do the math. Companies need a knowledgeable guide – a translation firm that understands business, regulations, customer relationships and the law, in addition to being able to provide skilled translations.”

With globalization, international regulations and increased pressures on the bottom line, KJI considers ISO 9001 certification a prerequisite of providing effective service to its global client base. “It’s a mark of expertise and quality,” Giovanis says. “Someone who doesn’t know us at all, who isn’t familiar with our past work, can look at us and know that we offer something of real value – documented processes, focused on their business needs.”

KJI, headquartered in Minneapolis with offices in Brussels, relies on a global network of business-savvy in-country translators to complete client projects, supported by a technological infrastructure that includes the latest tools in translation and a web-based project management and reporting system.
