Spanish Language Reforms

KJI has received a number of queries in regards to the Spanish orthographic reforms put in place by the Real Academia EspaƱola (RAE) in late 2010. These reforms include changes to some standard spelling and accenting conventions in Spanish orthography, as well as the accepted name of certain Spanish letters.

Although the majority of these changes will not affect translation, it is possible that some issues may arise when updating, translating or reviewing older documents which were published prior to the 2010 reforms. KJI has stayed abreast of the changes and will apply the updates appropriately when performing updates on dated material. Additionally, if you have any concerns that older documents you have in inventory may be out of date, KJI provides a language review service which includes a full analysis to determine if your documents conform to the new standards.
